Cabela’s, Kohl’s, Alvanon among Apparel Sourcing Summit Speakers August 14 in Vegas

By Susan Nichols - 07/28/2017

Apparel will host its annual Sourcing Summit at MAGIC on Mon., Aug. 14, 2017, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, followed by a reception, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The event is an official program of SOURCING at MAGIC, which runs Aug. 13 to 16 in conjunction with MAGIC MARKET WEEK, Aug. 14 to 16.

With a theme of “Sourcing Shakeup: How to Steer Your Way Through 2017 and Beyond,” the Summit will include a high-level overview of research results from Apparel and Kurt Salmon’s (a part of Accenture Strategy) “Excellence In Global Sourcing Study,” as well as a panel discussion featuring:

  • Ed Gribbin, president, Alvanon;

  • Praveen Kishorepuria, managing director, Kurt Salmon (part of Accenture Strategy);

  • Rajiv Malik, SVP, global product services, Kohl’s;

  • Charles McMurray, senior director of branded product development & global sourcing, Cabela's; and

  • Michelle Matthews, VP/Director of global sourcing, manufacturing & supply chain, Monarch Group.

Tony Ward, managing director, Kurt Salmon (part of Accenture Strategy), will moderate the panel.

Registration is complimentary for apparel retailers, brands and manufacturers and also requires registration with Sourcing at MAGIC.

Sourcing at MAGIC features apparel manufacturing, component, technology and service providers representing the global supply chain. More than 40 countries will be represented, and a matchmaking service is available to best align manufacturing needs and opportunities. Vietnam is the “focus country” country at this edition of Sourcing at MAGIC.

According to a forecast by PricewaterhouseCoopers in February 2017, Vietnam may be the fastest-growing of the world's economies, with a potential annual GDP growth rate of approximately 5.2 percent.  This is partially due to the boom in jobs linked to growth in export manufacturing of textiles and garment products to more than 180 countries and territories.

A session entitled “The Go-To Sourcing Destination: Vietnam Continues to Lure U.S. Firms,” will be held August 14 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

In addition to the aforementioned sessions, there is a full roster of seminars, covering a variety of topics, including fit, color inspiration and trends, fast fashion (with Xcel Brands), nearshoring, top sourcing locales, social strategy and more.
