A robust textile manufacturing industry once supported generations of Americans and their communities in North Carolina and throughout the South. But the last three decades have seen mills close, jobs lost and lives changed due to offshoring. The last generation of people who possess hands-on experience in factories and deep industry knowledge are now between 55 to 75 years old.
Last year Alvanon conducted a ground-breaking survey to understand the current sentiment around skills. Over 1,000 industry executives participated in a global ‘State of the Industry’ survey assessing the skills and talent gaps facing every link in the apparel value chain today.
