Macy's Tests Free Same-Day Shipping
In the face of fierce shipping competition this holiday season, Macy’s is testing fee same-day delivery with the help of the company's existing partnership with delivery service Deliv.
The department store is testing the service in 30 markets for orders of $75 or more starting on October 1. Though Macy’s first began offering same-day shipping in 2017, this is the first time the retailer will ship orders for free, allowing shoppers to skip the $8 fee and $99 minimum purchase requirement.
Customers who place their order Monday through Saturday by noon local time, or 10 a.m. local time on Sunday, will receive items the same day.
Macy’s already offers free shipping on $99 purchases. For purchases under the threshold, it charges $10.95.
For comparison, Target offers same-day delivery through Shipt, an annual plan is $99 for unlimited orders of $35 or more.
The announcement was made by Jill Ramsey, Macy’s chief product and digital revenue officer, at the WWD Digital Forum.
