Introduction, Innovation and Opportunity
I am thrilled to welcome you to the February issue of Apparel magazine. As you might have guessed, I’m a new face to the Apparel community. For the past 10 years, I ran two media brands that are very closely related to Apparel (and part of the EnsembleIQ family): Consumer Goods Technology (CGT) and Retail Information Systems (RIS), where my focus has centered around helping retail and brand executives collaborate, innovate and leverage technology for business growth. Lately, my focus has expanded more toward helping executives confront the consumer-driven world. This is a topic that transcends industry, but has particular urgency to ours.
I’m excited to be working with Apparel because it crosses the entire supply chain to encompass the best of both worlds — retailer and manufacturer. That broad view helps us uncover the path to effective and transparent collaboration for all parties as we face increasing disruption and consumer-centricity. I’m excited and humbled to carry on the legacy of this great media brand. Together with Jordan Speer, Apparel’s long-time editor in chief, I am passionate about continuing to help organizations drive innovation and capture opportunity. Apparel, with its close association to CGT and RIS, is wellpositioned to carry on our commitment to the Apparel community: We Help Retailers & Brands Excel — From Concept to Consumer.
We hope you’ll enjoy this issue, featuring our cover story — an in-depth report on the outlook for technology in 2018, which shows an uptick in investment BI and analytics. We also take a dive into the benefits of integrating PLM and ERP, and how to build loyal omnichannel consumers.
My passion exists in the fundamental process of community building: interacting on an individual level, making connections and leveraging a network to its fullest potential.
